The QNAP Switch System (QSS) provides smart networking management on QNAP’s Managed Switch Series. With its user-friendly web interface and settings guides, QSS provides an entry-level network management solution that is usable even by non-IT professionals. For QNAP’s QSW PoE Switch Series, QSS supports intelligent PoE management functions to make centralized management of powered devices intuitive and easy for administrators.

Optimize Network Performance with bandwidth and packet control

QSS provides bandwidth and packet control functions (such as LACP, VLAN, QoS, and IGMP Snooping) to boost network performance through IP grouping and bandwidth management.

Port Mirroring and Forward Error Correction(FEC) are only available on certain QSW switches. Check the detailed specifications of each model for more information.

  • LACP

    Link Aggregation (LAG) combines multiple network connections to increase throughput and protect against connection failure.

  • VLAN

    Virtual Networks (VLAN) allows groups of devices from different networks to be combined into a single network.

  • QoS

    QoS (Quality of Service) helps prioritize bandwidth usage to optimize network resource allocation.

  • IGMP Snooping

    IGMP snooping assists in minimizing bandwidth loss and preventing network information leakage.

  • Port Mirroring

    Port Mirroring sends a copy of network packets seen on one switch port to a network monitoring connection on another switch port, greatly assisting troubleshooting.

  • Forward Error Correction (FEC)

    FEC helps overcome packet loss – a potentially common occurrence in fast, long-distance networks. With FEC the receiving side can detect and recover lost data to correct bit errors, thus ensuring reliable data transmission over “noisy” channels.

QSS has powerful security and system functions (including ACL, LLDP, RSTP and Flow Control) to help administrators enhance network reliability using access controls, troubleshooting, loop prevention and avoiding packet loss.

  • ACL

    Access Control List filters packets based on rules to offer firewall-like security protection.

  • LLDP

    Link Layer Discovery Protocol allows devices to advertise device information to their directly connected peers/neighbors, simplifying troubleshooting processes.

  • RSTP

    Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol, RSTP ensures a loop-free topology for Ethernet networks by blocking or forwarding traffic.

  • Flow Control

    Flow Control balances the traffic between a sender and a receiver to avoid network congestion.

The QSW PoE Switch Series supports intelligent PoE management functions, including scheduling, power supply prioritization, and power enabling and disabling via QSS. You can obtain real-time network connection status and power consumption information of PDs and configure PDs simultaneously to promote an energy-saving PoE network.
